Six Pence Pub
Fine Ale, Fine Food
Located just a half-block south of Chippewa Square in Savannah’s Historic District, Six Pence Pub transports you straight to Europe with its authentic British atmosphere. Established in 1984 as “Wally’s Sixpence” by British couple, Wally and Dorris, this cozy, historic pub has become a beloved destination for locals and visitors alike. In 1999, the pub was purchased by two dedicated regulars who expanded its beer, wine, and liquor selection and added a full menu of traditional English and American comfort foods.
Six Pence Pub offers a variety of beers and ciders on tap from the UK, along with hearty favorites such as Shepherd’s Pie, Scotch Eggs, and Bangers and Mash. A must-try is the Beef Guinness—tender beef tips marinated in Guinness Stout, simmered with mushrooms, peas, carrots, onions, and green peppers, and served in a bread bowl or crock topped with mashed potatoes and cheddar cheese.
Whether you’re stopping in for lunch, dinner, or late-night dining, you can enjoy your meal in the warm, welcoming atmosphere of the pub, or opt for sidewalk seating to people-watch while savoring a variety of appetizers and comfort foods. The outdoor tables are also dog-friendly, so your canine companions are welcome to join for the fun.
Six Pence Pub offers a full menu until midnight and an impressive selection of imported beers, wines, and spirits. The full bar is open daily, with Happy Hour from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. Enjoy a pint of Guinness, a refreshing hard cider, a classic Irish coffee, a local craft beer, or the best martini in Savannah.
Often referred to as the “Most Authentic English Pub in Georgia,” Six Pence Pub was recently voted the Best British Pub in Savannah. It has been featured in Southern Living magazine and was a key location in the 1995 Julia Roberts movie Something to Talk About.
Six Pence Pub offers a taste of England in the heart of Savannah. Look for the British flag flying outside and the red telephone box, and you’ll know you’ve found something special. Come for the food, stay for the atmosphere.
Enjoy Savannah and tell them we sent you – Cheers!
