Can you tell the difference between history and complete nonsense?
Join host and comedian J. Steinbrunner for A B.S. in History, an interactive evening where the truth is up for debate. Three comedians take on six curious objects from the Davenport House Museum's collection. Each comedian knows the true story behind just one object—but for every other artifact, they'll have to rely on quick thinking, creativity, and their best powers of persuasion.
Audience members choose which objects come into play, then listen as each comedian tells the story behind them. Only one version is rooted in historical fact. The other two? Complete B.S.
After each round, it's up to you to decide who's telling the truth. Cast your vote, test your instincts, and see if you can separate real history from brilliantly convincing fiction.
Expect surprising artifacts, outrageous stories, plenty of laughs, and the reminder that sometimes the truth is stranger—and funnier—than fiction.

Savannah Wiener Dog Races
Get ready for the cutest competition of the year! The 2026 Savannah Wiener Dog Races are hitting the track on Saturday, October 31st, at the vibrant Plant Riverside District, presented in partnership with Savannah’s Waterfront. Watch these spirited dachshunds dash for glory in a fun-filled event the whole family will love. It’s more than just a race – proceeds support Savannah’s Waterfront, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preserving the rich history, enhancing the beauty, and promoting business collaboration along our historic riverfront. Join us for tail-wagging excitement and help make a difference in the heart of Savannah! Race heats are open to Dachshunds as well as “Almost Wiener Dogs.”
The festivities begin with a Doggy Parade and Costume Contest for wiener dogs with their owners to compete for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. When the Costume Contest ends, its off to the races! The contestants are grouped by weight, and the winner of each heat receives the Fastest Run Award. Then those heat winners compete in the final race for the 2026 Grand Prize! Almost Wiener Dogs (Dachshund-mix dogs) may race in our special “Almost A Wiener” heat, but are ineligible for the grand prize trophy run.
Spectators: Event begins at 11am. Only dogs registered for the races need to come to check in at the registration desk between 9am – 10:45am. The Doggie Parade & Costume Contest will be held first, then the individual heats, then the final race for the grand prize. Note: Only dogs registered for the races are eligible to participate in the Doggie Parade & Costume Contest, but their friends are welcome to come watch as long as they’re up to date on their vaccines. A limited number of event t-shirts will be available for purchase on race day!

Fall Arts Festival - Davenport House Museum
The Davenport House Museum is proud to present our annual Fall Arts Festival, a vibrant celebration of Savannah’s creative community. This free, family-friendly event will bring together artists, artisans, musicians, and community members across Historic Savannah Foundation’s campus.
Festival highlights include an artisan vendor fair, hands-on art activities led by local artists, and a collaborative community art project that invites all ages to contribute to a shared work of art. Visitors can enjoy live music from local musicians, delicious food, and a chance to relax on the picnic lawn in the museum’s garden.
In addition, the Davenport House Museum will be open for exploration, with special opportunities to engage in interactive activities that connect the house’s history with Savannah’s thriving arts community.
The festival will extend across the Davenport House Museum, the Historic Kennedy Pharmacy, the museum gardens, and outside vendor fair, creating a lively atmosphere that blends art, history, and community spirit.
Fiddler on the Roof - The Savannah Theatre
The sun rises on our newest production with over 26 cast members to tell this heartwarming story of fathers and daughters, husbands and wives, and the timeless traditions that define faith and family. Featuring the Broadway classics “Tradition,” “If I Were a Rich Man,” “Sunrise, Sunset,” “Matchmaker, Matchmaker” and “To Life,” Fiddler on the Roof will introduce a new generation to this uplifting celebration that raises its cup to joy! 2026 Brave the Stage - Savannah Stage Company
Announcing the twelve brave souls set to perform at Brave the Stage on November 13th at The Clyde Venue. The event raises funds for our Pay What You Can Camp Scholarship Program, allowing families to pay what they can for summer theatre camp and is hosted by award winning author Jessica Leigh Lebos!
The 2026 Brave the Stage performers come from every stretch of our community. They include Shaylyn Mackey, co-founder of Big Chick Energy Comedy; Jessica Leavitt Ouattara and Taylor Cook, with Jessica founding Clem Consulting; Clinton Edminster, owner of Water’s Cafe and Starlandia Reclaimed Art Supply; Bettie and Michelle Negley, longtime theatre in Savannah supporters; Local Erika, Lowcountry content creator; Christopher Ridley, SCAD career advisor; Sunny Girardeau, artist and advocate; Amy Knussman, math educator with SCCPSS; Liz Walker, board member of Tybee Post Theater and dancer with Tybee Ballet Company; and Susan Daggett of the Unitarian Universalist Church.
Their acts range from musical theatre and a cat duet to original music, a theatricalized op-ed, a staged reading of a murder mystery, and a comedy routine!
The performers are coached by a team of Savannah theatre professionals. Mentors include Jason Kraack, musician and composer; August Starling, filmmaker and actor; Shawna Peña-Downing, SSC actor, director, and choreographer; Emily Gates, SCAD MFA alum; Maggie Lee Hart, actor, educator, and designer; McKenna Lyons, longtime SSC member; Sheila Berg, an Historic Savannah Theatre staple on stage; Lexi Balaoing, SSC associate artistic director; and Rahul Menon, Gulfstream engineer and improvisor with Front Porch Improv.

Reindeer Run
In partnership with Sound Physicians and Fleet Feet, Mary's Place is thrilled to announce the re-launch of the beloved Reindeer Race! On Saturday, December 12th, we will run against bullies and make sure everyone joins in the “Reindeer Games” at Bryan Square at the Savannah Trade and Convention Center. One of Savannah’s best family-oriented run events, the Reindeer Run benefits the important work of Mary's Place: Sexual Assault Center of the Coastal Empire, Inc (formerly Rape Crisis Center). This is a family friendly event open to all. Costumes are highly encouraged and prizes will be awarded for best costume.
Registration for the 5 Miler Run/Walk registration is $35 before 12/6 and will increase to $40 until 12/10. The 1 mile race is $25 before 12/6 will increase to $30 until 12/10. The Kiddie Run and Diaper Dash are complimentary for ages 10 and under.
Savannah Santa Train 2026 - Georgia State Railroad Museum
Save the date for Savannah Santa Train 2026, which will be Saturday, Dec. 12th, 9AM-3PM.
This beloved annual favorite holiday family event takes place at Georgia State Railroad Museum and Savannah Children’s Museum,
Activities run all day, so arrive any time BEFORE your scheduled train ride time! Enjoy the activities, crafts, and performances throughout the day!
Festive activities include: train and handcar rides, photos with Santa, a 1PM concert by Savannah Children's Choir, the chance to operate a model train, LEGO activities with Snapology, creating festive art with Fleurish Creative Studio, pictures with the Grinch, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa activities, food trucks, holiday crafts, Christmas tree activities, carving demos of hand-crafted spinning tops, which are available for purchase.

2026 Tybee Island Pirate Fest
Ahoy, mateys! The 2026 Tybee Island Pirate Festival is returning October 8–11 for four days of swashbuckling fun, live entertainment, family activities, and plenty of pirate mayhem on Tybee Island.
Now in its 22nd year, the Tybee Island Pirate Festival has become one of the Southeast’s favorite fall traditions, drawing thousands of visitors to the island each year. Since 2022, the festival has remained free and family-friendly, making it an event the entire community can enjoy.
This year’s festival will feature a packed lineup of entertainment and activities, including live music, pirate performers, a colorful parade, vendors, food trucks, carnival rides, a petting zoo, mermaids, face painting, children’s activities, and much more. Guests of all ages are encouraged to dress in their finest pirate attire and join in the fun.
From the first cannon blast to the final farewell, there will be something happening throughout the weekend. Whether you’re a seasoned pirate or a landlubber looking for a great fall getaway, the Tybee Island Pirate Festival promises four days of adventure, entertainment, and memories for the whole family.

Mid-Autumn Festival Family Day - Davenport House Museum
Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with the Davenport House Museum and the Savannah Chinese Association during this free Family Day filled with hands-on activities, cultural performances, refreshments, and fun for all ages. One of the most important holidays in many East and Southeast Asian cultures, the Mid-Autumn Festival celebrates the harvest, family reunions, and the full moon—a time for gathering together, sharing food, and giving thanks.
The celebration also honors an important chapter in the Davenport House's own history. From 1901–1902, the home was occupied by the Chan family, one of Savannah's earliest Chinese American families. Through this special partnership, guests are invited to connect with the museum's past while celebrating a living cultural tradition. Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore the return of the museum's acclaimed exhibition, Old Chan Magic: Chinese Roots, Southern Branches, which shares the story of the Chan family and Savannah's early Chinese community.
At 12:15pm there will be the official opening of Charming Savannah Seen Through Chinese Eyes a photography exhibition celebrating the beauty, character, and stories of Savannah through the perspectives of local Chinese photographers. This exhibition is a visual conversation about place, belonging, and community. Through their lenses, the photographers share how Savannah has inspired them, welcomed them, and become part of their own stories.
Family Day is free and open to the public thanks to generous support from the City of Savannah. Join us for an afternoon of history, culture, and community as we celebrate the many stories that make Savannah unique.
Savannah Chinese Association: Exhibition Opening - Davenport House Museum
Presented by Savannah Chinese Association, Charming Savannah Seen Through Chinese Eyes is a photography exhibition celebrating the beauty, character, and stories of Savannah through the perspectives of local Chinese photographers.
For many years, these photographers have explored and documented the city they call home—capturing its historic streets, working waterfront, coastal landscapes, wildlife, architecture, and the quiet moments that reveal Savannah’s unique charm. Each photograph reflects a personal connection with the city and offers a different way of seeing and experiencing Savannah.
More than a collection of beautiful images, this exhibition is a visual conversation about place, belonging, and community. Through their lenses, the photographers share how Savannah has inspired them, welcomed them, and become part of their own stories.
The exhibition reflects the spirit of cultural exchange and community connection, celebrating the many perspectives that contribute to Savannah’s rich and evolving identity.
Join us on Sunday, September 13 at 12:15 p.m. for the opening of Charming Savannah Seen Through Chinese Eyes. This event will take place as a part of the Davenport House Museum’s Mid-Autumn Festival Family Day.
Broom Making Workshop - Davenport House Museum
Connect with tradition and creativity in this unique broom making workshop led by Julia Jarrett of Made by Venus Moon. Participants will learn the art of handcrafting their own miniature broom using natural materials and time-honored techniques.
Julia will guide you through the process from start to finish, sharing insights into the cultural history and symbolism of broom making along the way. Each participant will leave with a completed handmade broom—a perfect blend of craftsmanship and intention.
All materials will be provided. No prior experience is needed—just come ready to create and enjoy a grounding, tactile experience in great company.

Fall Seed Exchange - Wormsloe State Historic Site
Join us for the Wormsloe Fall Seed Exchange on Saturday, September 5, 2026. FREE seeds from Wormsloe's Heritage Garden will be given to all! Bring seeds to share and swap if you have them.
