Through carefully arranged rooms, objects, and details, the exhibit offers a glimpse into the daily lives of the people who lived and worked here. Rather than seeing a house preserved in time, visitors are encouraged to imagine the conversations, routines, work, and unexpected interruptions that once filled these rooms.
Step inside, look closely, and discover the stories hidden within a moment frozen in time!
Art Start: Stroller & Toddler Tour - Jepson Center
Once a month, our youngest patrons are invited to the Jepson Center for story time, a special tour, and an art activity. Strollers, crying babies, toddlers, and older siblings are all welcome here. Drop-In Studio - Jepson Center
Take time to unleash your creativity, join us in our studios every Saturday and Sunday between 10am and 2pm for art-making projects for all ages! Work at your own pace and comfort level through an array of creative media such as watercolors, collage, calligraphy, origami, coloring books, and much more. Each month features a special project designed to connect with an exhibition at the museum. A studio assistant is always on hand to answer questions and assist guests. Drop-In Studio is perfect for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Can you tell the difference between history and complete nonsense?
Join host and comedian J. Steinbrunner for A B.S. in History, an interactive evening where the truth is up for debate. Three comedians take on six curious objects from the Davenport House Museum's collection. Each comedian knows the true story behind just one object—but for every other artifact, they'll have to rely on quick thinking, creativity, and their best powers of persuasion.
Audience members choose which objects come into play, then listen as each comedian tells the story behind them. Only one version is rooted in historical fact. The other two? Complete B.S.
After each round, it's up to you to decide who's telling the truth. Cast your vote, test your instincts, and see if you can separate real history from brilliantly convincing fiction.
Expect surprising artifacts, outrageous stories, plenty of laughs, and the reminder that sometimes the truth is stranger—and funnier—than fiction.

Fall Arts Festival - Davenport House Museum
The Davenport House Museum is proud to present our annual Fall Arts Festival, a vibrant celebration of Savannah’s creative community. This free, family-friendly event will bring together artists, artisans, musicians, and community members across Historic Savannah Foundation’s campus.
Festival highlights include an artisan vendor fair, hands-on art activities led by local artists, and a collaborative community art project that invites all ages to contribute to a shared work of art. Visitors can enjoy live music from local musicians, delicious food, and a chance to relax on the picnic lawn in the museum’s garden.
In addition, the Davenport House Museum will be open for exploration, with special opportunities to engage in interactive activities that connect the house’s history with Savannah’s thriving arts community.

Mid-Autumn Festival Family Day - Davenport House Museum
Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with the Davenport House Museum and the Savannah Chinese Association during this free Family Day filled with hands-on activities, cultural performances, refreshments, and fun for all ages. One of the most important holidays in many East and Southeast Asian cultures, the Mid-Autumn Festival celebrates the harvest, family reunions, and the full moon—a time for gathering together, sharing food, and giving thanks.
The celebration also honors an important chapter in the Davenport House's own history. From 1901–1902, the home was occupied by the Chan family, one of Savannah's earliest Chinese American families. Through this special partnership, guests are invited to connect with the museum's past while celebrating a living cultural tradition. Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore the return of the museum's acclaimed exhibition, Old Chan Magic: Chinese Roots, Southern Branches, which shares the story of the Chan family and Savannah's early Chinese community.
At 12:15pm there will be the official opening of Charming Savannah Seen Through Chinese Eyes a photography exhibition celebrating the beauty, character, and stories of Savannah through the perspectives of local Chinese photographers. This exhibition is a visual conversation about place, belonging, and community. Through their lenses, the photographers share how Savannah has inspired them, welcomed them, and become part of their own stories.
Family Day is free and open to the public thanks to generous support from the City of Savannah. Join us for an afternoon of history, culture, and community as we celebrate the many stories that make Savannah unique.
Savannah Chinese Association: Exhibition Opening - Davenport House Museum
Presented by Savannah Chinese Association, Charming Savannah Seen Through Chinese Eyes is a photography exhibition celebrating the beauty, character, and stories of Savannah through the perspectives of local Chinese photographers.
For many years, these photographers have explored and documented the city they call home—capturing its historic streets, working waterfront, coastal landscapes, wildlife, architecture, and the quiet moments that reveal Savannah’s unique charm. Each photograph reflects a personal connection with the city and offers a different way of seeing and experiencing Savannah.
More than a collection of beautiful images, this exhibition is a visual conversation about place, belonging, and community. Through their lenses, the photographers share how Savannah has inspired them, welcomed them, and become part of their own stories.
The exhibition reflects the spirit of cultural exchange and community connection, celebrating the many perspectives that contribute to Savannah’s rich and evolving identity.
Join us on Sunday, September 13 at 12:15 p.m. for the opening of Charming Savannah Seen Through Chinese Eyes. This event will take place as a part of the Davenport House Museum’s Mid-Autumn Festival Family Day.
Broom Making Workshop - Davenport House Museum
Connect with tradition and creativity in this unique broom making workshop led by Julia Jarrett of Made by Venus Moon. Participants will learn the art of handcrafting their own miniature broom using natural materials and time-honored techniques.
Julia will guide you through the process from start to finish, sharing insights into the cultural history and symbolism of broom making along the way. Each participant will leave with a completed handmade broom—a perfect blend of craftsmanship and intention.
All materials will be provided. No prior experience is needed—just come ready to create and enjoy a grounding, tactile experience in great company.

The day kicks off at 11 a.m. with ribbon cuttings at both facilities, officially marking this exciting new chapter for Port Wentworth, Savannah and the entire Coastal Georgia community.

Join us for Trivia Night at Foxy Loxy Cafe, happening every other Thursday at 6:30 PM in our courtyard! Hosted by our own Syd Story, each night features fun questions, friendly competition, and a relaxed atmosphere perfect for gathering with friends. Parlor Presentation - The Green-Meldrim House
Unlock the symbolism of historic church interiors with Dr. Herringer at the GMH. Her upcoming talk details the Victorian Gothic revival in British Anglo-Catholic churches. Learn how new features—from raised altars to rood screens—were driven by changes in Eucharistic doctrine. The presentation will also feature local insights into the interior of St. John’s Church.
Annual Telfair Contemporaries Arty Party - Jepson Center
Join Telfair Contemporaries (TC) for a lively reception on the 3rd floor landing and sculpture terraces. Fall Seed Exchange - Wormsloe State Historic Site
Join us for the Wormsloe Fall Seed Exchange on Saturday, September 5, 2026. FREE seeds from Wormsloe's Heritage Garden will be given to all! Bring seeds to share and swap if you have them. But no need to bring any seeds if you don't. Talk with a naturalist between 10 AM and 4 PM in the Heritage Garden. Standard admission is required.

WHAT ELSE: The Green-Meldrim House (GMH) is celebrating the nation’s 250th birthday by looking back 150 years. Join us for a special commemoration of the 1876 American Centennial. There will be living history performers, refreshments, and a chance to see inside the Gothic-Revival-style masterpiece, the Green Meldrim House.
Leather Crafting Workshop - Davenport House Musuem
Join us on August 8 for a hands-on introduction to leatherworking as you create your own custom belt from start to finish. This workshop will cover leather basics, including types of cuts, thickness, and tannage, along with an overview of how to select and prepare leather for belt making.
Participants will learn the full process, from cutting a strap from a hide to sizing, edging, and finishing. Instruction will include the use of antique gels and protective top coats, as well as proper buckle attachment. Depending on time, participants may also have the opportunity to add light stamping or decorative details.
Each participant will leave with a finished, functional leather belt and foundational skills in leathercraft.

Indigo Dyeing Workshop - Davenport House Museum
Discover the rich history and artistry of indigo dyeing in this hands-on workshop. We’ll begin with a brief exploration of indigo’s historical significance in Georgia, followed by an introduction to the unique properties of this remarkable natural dye and an accessible explanation of indigo vat chemistry.
Participants will have the opportunity to work with prepared indigo vats and, if available, observe fresh indigo firsthand. Using a variety of resist techniques—including clamps, woodblocks, and tie methods—you’ll create your own patterns on cotton scarves.
Each participant will leave with a one-of-a-kind dyed scarf, along with detailed instructions for washing and finishing their piece at home.

Bring the whole family to the Davenport House Museum this summer for a unique blend of literacy, history, and hands-on fun! Designed for children of all ages and their caregivers, Summer Storytime meets once a month to bring diverse historical eras and community stories to life inside one of Savannah's oldest homes.
Each session is a multi-sensory adventure divided into three fun parts:
• Listen: We gather inside the museum's historic drawing room for a 30-minute read-aloud of a carefully selected children's book that connects to a piece of our shared history.
• Explore & Create: We head out to the beautiful museum garden for an engaging, hands-on craft or educational activity inspired by the day’s story.
• Refresh: Kids and parents can relax and enjoy complimentary snacks and drinks together in the courtyard.

• Who: Open to children of all ages. All participants must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Needle Felting for the Whole Family - Davenport House Museum
Celebrate the arrival of Summer with a charming needle-felting workshop led by artist Lucy Brotmann. In this two-hour, beginner-friendly session, Lucy will guide participants through shaping and sculpting colorful wool fibers into delightful summer flowers. You’ll explore essential felting techniques, experiment with vibrant materials, and create a set of soft, sculptural blooms perfect for gifting or wearing.
All materials are provided, and participants will leave with finished felted flowers and the skills to continue needle felting on their own. Children must be accompanied by an adult and no more 2 children per adult.
Yoga in the Garden with Savannah Yoga Center - Davenport House Museum
Begin your Saturday morning with a gentle yoga practice in the historic garden of the Davenport House Museum. This beginner-friendly class, led by instructors from Savannah Yoga Center, offers a welcoming and relaxed environment for all levels of experience. Each session invites participants to move, breathe, and enjoy a peaceful start to the day surrounded by one of Savannah’s most beautiful historic spaces. Classes are limited to 12 participants to ensure a comfortable experience for everyone. In case of inclement weather, the class will be held indoors in an event room. Participants are asked to bring a yoga mat and water. Please note the minimum age to attend is 16.
Community Wish Wall Celebration - Davenport House Museum
Join the Davenport House Museum in commemorating America’s 250th with the Wish Wall, a collaborative community art project that invites community members to share their hopes, dreams, and aspirations for the future. Part of Made By Us's Civic Season and the nationwide commemoration of America's 250th anniversary, the project encourages us to reflect not only on where we've been, but also on where we're going.
Throughout Civic Season—the period between Juneteenth and Independence Day—communities across the country are coming together to connect with history, celebrate civic engagement, and imagine the future. Here in Savannah, the Wish Wall offers an opportunity to add your voice to that conversation.
Community members of all ages are invited to contribute a wish to a growing participatory mural that will capture our collective hopes for Savannah and the nation over the next 250 years. Whether your wish is big, bold, practical, or heartfelt, it will become part of a shared work of art created by and for the community.
Join us for the launch celebration on Friday, June 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Davenport House Museum Garden. Meet project partners, add your wish, and help us create a vibrant community vision for the future.
The Wish Wall will remain available for public participation through July 10. Admission is free, and all are welcome. Registration is encouraged.
